How do I increase memory? If need to install larger memory card, which one and how do I do it. Be specific. If need to delete some files, which can I delete that will still leave US-Canada maps working. I speak English. Are there language files I can delete, such as German, French, etc. that will not adversely affect US-Canada maps and directions? If so, how do I do it? I have not added anything except for favorites.

You will need a 4GB microSD card, http://www.gpscity.com/daneelec-4gb-microsd-data-card-with-sd-adapter.html.

Here is a link to instruction for downloading the map.
The instructions are for a Mac but will mostly apply to the PC also.

Do I need to leave the Micro SD chip in place to do the download or does it need to be plugged in forever?

The card will need to be in the unit when you want to use the North America maps. So if you stay in Canada and the USA you will always leave the card in. If you travel to Europe you will take it out and put the Europe card in when you travel
