All nuvi's will view Topo maps but not as well as a handheld would. you will also have limited functionality when it comes to search POI's. A good handheld alternative is the Garmin Montana 650

When you say nuvis will view 24K topos but not as well as a handheld, what exactly do you mean? Less screen resolution? What limited functionality? Debating between a Montana or one of the Nuvi with 5 screens for better readability.

You will not be able to search all points. On some units the maps do not look nice and are not as easy to read.

Thanks Jordan - looking at the 3590 and the 2595 as two possibilities. Any difference in those regarding 24K topo use or screen readability? When using the topo Im not concerned about searching POIs.

I just put a card in both units and they do view a little better than older nuvi's. comparing these two I find they look similar but the nuvi 3590LMT (better resolution than the 2595) looks better.
