Original question asked on Aug 18, 2012, 3:29pm
I just received my Nuvi 2360LMT and first thing i do is transfer a route from MapSource to the GPS but can't find it in the unit. My other GPS (1490LMT) has an "import" icon to import the routes after the transfer from Map Source (up to 10 routes) but i do not see that in my 2360LMT.

Can i download routes from MapSource to my 2360LMT? I bought it for that purpose so I could load maps in it.

The nuvi 2360 can store routes internally to the unit but they have to be created on the unit. You will not be able to transfer routes from your computer to the nuvi 2360.

Mapsource is not used anymore for that function on new units. You will need to download Basecamp for free from Garmins site to create routes. A unit that you can send routes to would be the nuvi 3590LMT as an example.

Do you think you can exchange my unit for one that i can send routes? Still in the box. Never used. Of course i would pay for the extra.

If purchased from GPS City in the past 30 days you can return the unit. Please contact our sales team via phone. We can sometimes make exceptions if it is older than 30 days.

Yes I purchased it less than a month ago. I've already contacted the service center by email but did not receive any answer yet.

I will contact the sales and see what they can do for me.

In the specs for the 2360LMT, at point #28 it says: routes 100
And at point #29 : Basecamp YES
But as i discovered you can't send maps in this unit.

That is what confused me.

Now I look at the 3590LMT you suggested and it has the same informations. It is confusing.

I understand. The unit holds a lot of routes but they have to be created on the unit.

OK then, so it is the same with the 3590LMT?
Now you know what kind of GPS I need....a unit that i can use for rides i create in my PC.
So which unit should i buy that i can send routes from Basecamp?
Something not to expensive. 4,3in screen and less than $300.00
I do not want to make the same mistakes again.

The nuvi 3590 can accept routes from Basecamp. The nuvi 3490 can also do the same. The nuvi 2595 has a 5 inch screen but will do the routes like you need.

I, too, was misled by the "number of routes" specs for the 2360. When I bought it, it couldn't pass routes back and forth to Mapsource. When I complained they told me I'd have to wait for Base Camp. I waited. Two days ago I downloaded it.

I just spent the afternoon on the phone with Garmin. I can create "Trip Plans" on the device and routes on Base Camp, but I can't get either to the other. The help desk person thought it was possible, and we tried everything we could think of. Finally she gave me to understand I was just stuck with it.

Why would Garmin let you create routes on both but not let you send them back and forth? Assuming "Trip Plans" are the same thing as "Routes," they're very hard to create on the device and easy to create on the computer, but you can't use the computer to drive. I think there should be a product recall to put those functions in it. Could that be done with a firmware update?

If it goes uncorrected it's very nearly criminal. I'm half of a mind to bring it up with the New York State Attorney General or Consumeer Protection Agency.

There is no misleading information in the descriptions. The unit can hold and create multiple routes but you are unable to create routes on the computer and send it to the unit.

Before purchasing future units feel free to ask us clarifying questions so we can help you better.

If you just purchased this unit I would return it for it is a discontinued item.
