Why can I not get US maps on my new Garmin

I am in Canada and cannot get any US addresses or maps, they come up no matches found. I thought they were already preloaded. Do I need to load maps and if yes, how do I do this?

Your unit may not have the USA in it. What is the part number from the box of the GPS unit.

If purchased from GPS City you will have both the USA and Canadian maps in the unit. To search outside of Canada you will need to change your country reference at the bottom of the address page. There will be a blue button to change countries. If you have used that button and nothing changes you will need to return your GPS for another with Both Countries.

I am having a similar problem only it recognizes the US and Not Canada. This has recently changed as it was purchased with both and has worked great for over a year in both countries. The blue button does not change the country.

You unit may not have enough memory in it for both countries. You will need a 4GB card then you will need to try the update again. Save the maps to the computer and the unit. then use Garmin Mapinstall to load the maps on the SD card. If you run into problems please phone for assistance. 1-800-800-1020
