› Garmin Nuvi 2475LT with Lifetime Traffic

When I purchase a new Garmin Nuvi 2475LT does it come installed with the LATEST version of the maps for both Europe and North America? How often is a new or latest version available? How do I know that new versions are availabe? I'm considering buying this for a trip to Europe in October and to use for traveling in the USA.

The maps on the unit will likely be a few revisions old because Garmin comes out with a new version every three months. When you register the unit and buy the lifetime map update a new version will be available every three months. It will show up when you log into your account with Garmin. You will get the one free update within 90 days of the purchase also.

Be careful about the updates for NA and Europe. I bought the 2475lt it worked fine until I registered the unit and did the updates. Now Europe map do not work. Says the unit can not unlock the maps. I have been on the phone to Garmin for more than an hour with no resolution. Garmin support has been asking me to write my own files to download to the unit to unlock the maps. I leave for Europe on the weekend and I am ready to throw Garmin GPS in garbage. I know they will delete my response shortly but felt like venting!!!!!!!!

You will not have that problem. Greg may of put the wrong maps on his unit from another device. It is hard to say without more information. Garmin is a lot more help than he mentioned also. They will take over your computer in that case to help solve the problem. He may of got a rookie rep that did not know what exactly to do. If that every happens to you just try reloading the map. Be careful that you select the map from your account that is for the nuvi you are updating. Sending a map meant for a different unit will give you the unlock error.
