Passing a waypoint

I want to know if there is a way to tell my Garmin 2595 to go to the next waypoint.  When I went cross border shopping I wanted to go through Cornwall instead of Montreal so I added the Cornwall Best Western as a waypoint and as we passed by the hotel the Garmin kept telling me to turn back.  So how do I tell it to go to the next waypoint?  Or when does it move on?

You will need to be within a few meters of the via point for it to move to the next point.

You could go into the Trip Planner via the apps menu selection on the main screen. In trip planner choose the unsaved trip. Then delete the point you went by from the list.

Thanks

Is there a way to do this on the go handfree using voice commands? I've tried 'next waypoint' and 'resume trip'.

With voice command you could route to the first point. then when you are close stop that route with your voice. Then with your voice enter a new destination and route to it.

Okay that works thanks. Is there a way after I have stopped a route to resume that route using voice commands.

You will not be able to resume the route using your voice but you can navigate to a new point. Once you reach one destination you will give the unit verbal commands to go to the next.

I use the units in a similar manner. I normally put the next city in as a destination so I know the time to there. As I go through that city I enter the next one and so on.
