If I want to go from point A to Point B and go via certain cities can I program a route this way?

You can add one via point to the route.

I bought a Nuvi 40 not realizing it only had USA maps in it. How can I get USA AND Canada maps in it??

You can add the maps via SD card or digital download. Here is a link.
