What's the hard drive capacity of the unit, please, and how much of its space does the default loading take up? I just read some of the Q&A for the 1490LMT and it appeared to be woefully insufficient even for the first update right out of the box.

Some of the comments in that thread indicated that the bloat of map size might be due to increased numbers of preloaded Points of Interest (which I seldom use on my current TomTom) - is there any way to option out of these new POIs in order to save disk space?

I use a MacBook will I be able to update voices, or are these still MS-based .exe files?

Thanks.

The unit has about 4Gb of mapping memory in it.

The Garmin devices fully support mac. Information is generally transferred using a web browser plugin.

POI's do not take up much information. The majority of the memory is taken up by maps and features like Junction view.
