GARMIN 3590 unit won't connect to computer?

I have tried to update 3590 to 2 seperate computers and get the statement back that unit unable to connect to computer? windows computer doesnt recognise unit and that unit has malfunctioned. Try reconnecting again?
Done this several times to no avail? Can anyone help

Try a unit reset.

Hold your finger in the bottom right of the screen with the unit off. Hold your finger in the bottom of the screen then power the unit on. Hold you finger in the bottom corner until you are prompted to erase all user data. Select yes. If your unit does not connect please call Garmin 1-800-800-1020
