I did all the updates and there are still roads not showing up such as Shediac River Road in Shediac New Brunswick. Why is this?

If no one reports the errors they will not be fixed. You can visit Garmins site or the map makers site to report map errors. Once a map error is reported it may take a few updates for it to show up

Which roads are missing? Some times the unit will avoid smaller roads when routing with it. The nuvi 50 doesn't allow for preplanned routes so it will be very tedious to make it take the roads you want on a long trip.

Assuming the roads are there but the GPS is not taking them.

If you want the nuvi 50 to take you your own route you will need to first plan your route in stages/segments. Each segment will have a end point which you will save in your favorites. The begin point will be your destination which will be previous segment end point. As you arrive at each destination(endpoint) you will need to start a new route with the next destination.

To make planning your trip easier download Garmin Basecamp for free from Garmin.com When you plug your nuvi into the computer the program will read the maps. You can plan your trip in Basecamp and then send the segment endpoints to your GPS. Once in the GPS they will be in Favorites. Be sure to name them in a way that it will be easy for you to route to them in order.

It make take a few tries to get the hang of it.
