Hi,I'm using a 4gb card and it's almost full. Would formatting the card before updateing help in getting rid of outdated data and restore extra space on the card. I have a password program called Roboform2Go on a usb flash drive and when it updates it automatically formats the drive and reinstalls. I just ordered a larger card but I'm thinking that when I update my Nuvi will it fill with junk to the point of overload on the larger card also, thanks, Ed

You could format to get rid of any other data you may of added. When a update occurs it will erase the old mapset for the new one but will leave other data alone. Garmin does not add other data to the memory card other than the map and necessary unlock files. There is no need to use any other programs to manage the card.
