Route Distance & Time Don't Corelate?

Entered a destination that was 172 kms (correct distance) but Nuvi 255W said travel time would be 7 hours 33 minutes. I've gone through settings and can't seem to get this to jive. Unit was recently used in California...could that be the problem?

Hello Rick,

You may need to start moving so it can calculate the time it will take to travel to your point. I use mine often and it is usually with in 10-20 minutes on a 700km trip but I don't usually take notice until I start moving.

Cheers

I did that and even while travelling, it still showed an arrival time of 7+ hours (steadily declining) for what should have been a 2 hour trip.

That is very interesting. Is your units firmware up to date?

Cheers

I updated the maps this morning. Issue still appears. The unit is less than a year old (I think). Is firmware the same as map updates?

Hello Rick,

The firmware is usually installed when you do a map update. Have you tried routing to different area's. Unfortunately I can not recreate the problem with my Nuvi 760. Maybe give Garmin a quick call @ 1-800-800-1020

Cheers
