Original question asked on Nov 24, 2010, 10:54pm
1) Will an 8GB microSD card work properly with the Garmin Nuvi 3790LMT?

2) What size of microSD card is best to store the entire DVD Topo maps for North America, 4GB or 8GB?

Thanks!

Hello,

The unit will read an 8Gb card but the Garmin software will only let you load 4Gb of topo. You wont need all of Canada so a 4Gb card is sufficient. You can also easily choose areas to load so it is easy to leave areas you dont go to out of the data set.

cheers

What is the best size Micro SD card to use to read The European and Australian maps for the 3790 LMT? By this I mean the brand and what class of ard is best, ie: class 4, 6, 8 or 10....

Hi Wolf,

We recommend the cards that we sell, and a max size of 4GB. The cards we sell are class 4. Please see the page below. Thank you!

I have a European map on the larger card that I purchased for my previous Nuvi 760. Is it possible to transfer that to the smaller card for my 3790 LMT? If so, do I simply copy the files over?

The maps will only work with the card or device they were unlocked to. You will not be able to copy the data from one card to another if it was a preloaded card
