My MSN Direct service had expired. So, to continue the MSN Direct service, I need to pay $19.95 for two years. What happens after the two years is up? Don't you think this is a rip off?

If I don't want to pay the to continue the service, what are my options?

Hello Philip,

What do you use the service for? If you need just traffic then you can add a traffic cable to it with life time traffic updates.

MSN will be discontinued soon. If they are only asking for 19.95 for two years then that is a good deal. Take advantage of it while the service is still available.

Cheers
Jordan

explain the traffic cable? how do I add this? I don't know if 19.95 is one amount for the whole two years or a monthly fee. I am using the service for traffic, weather, etc. Common stuff.

Hello Philip,

You can add traffic to your GPS by purchasing the following cable.

This cable will do traffic only. If you want the other services Garmin has a device called the Nuvi 1695 which will have an internet connection to get weather, traffic, Google search and more.

Now how are 1695 and 885t different? Does the 1695 rely on MSN Direct? I would like to find another Garmin that doesn't rely on MSN Direct.

Hey, I have another question about Nuvi's in general. What happens if you device gets stolen. does Garmin have a way to track your device or is there something I can install on the device to make it trackable?

Hello Philip,

No Garmin does not track your unit if it is stolen. You should look at a program called Gadget Track. Also if you take the unit out of the vehicle when you are not in it you should have no problems with theft of the unit.
