Hello Refeekh,

Your unit must be plugged in to the 12v Cigarette Lighter Power, if it is not plugged in it will not receive traffic because the receiver is built into the power cord. If that does not fix your issue you may need to give the unit a firmware update using Garmins WebUpdater.

Hope this helps!

Give the unit at least 20 minutes while plugged into the traffic receiver (power cable) in the car. If no icon then try the update again and if that does not work please contact Garmin via phone @ 1-800-800-1020.

Same problem here. Updated with the latest firmware. The traffic icon completely disappeared from 1450 LMT.

Do you have the traffic cable plugged in and supplied with 12VDC?

Last week I had the same issue. After a lot of searches, and a walk to a store which has this model, I realized that they sent me in the box a regular 12VDC cable! Finally, I received the right FM receiver cable, plugged in, and the icon appeared. Until that moment I wasn't even sure that they sent me a LMT and not one without traffic (after I registered the product on the Garmin site it was shown as a LMT, but you know how is it...). They should write on it "1450LMT", not just "1450"! Also I think that this icon should be there all the time, like the others.

On the box the Title of the unit should of been nuvi 1450LMT. Did you pay for the nuvi 1450 or the nuvi 1450LMT according to the sales receipt from the company your purchased the unit from?

I had the same problem with my device. Nuvi 1450LMT.

Turns out, we had purchased a smaller diameter cord (still a genuine Garmin OEM cord) because it was thinner and fit better into our vehicle with less space. Since switching to the new cord, the traffic icon had vanished. We initially thought this had something to do with the map undates we had been downloading.

We went ahead and updated our latest map and then tried our 1450LMT with the larger cord. That did the trick. As soon as the device was plugged in with the larger cord, the traffic icon appeared instantly.

That is right. The larger cord has the traffic receiver built into it. If it is not plugged in you will not get traffic.

I have a Garmin 1490 LMT and I also lost the icon a couple of updates ago. I also seem to have a problem with the cord or the connector on the unit. It want's to power off some times because it loses connection with the cord and I have to reach in the back and wiggle the connector to get it to see the connection again. I've had this unit since 12/2011. Not sure what kind of warranty it has.

It sounds like you need a new unit or cable. Is the bad connection definitely in the cable? If so you can get a new traffic cable. If the bad connection is in the unit then it will need to be sent away for repair.

The units have a one year warranty unless an extended warranty was purchased.

I have a 1450 LMT that used to have traffic (Phila area), before I updated, now it's gone. Same cord, just updated the unit and lost my traffic icon.

You may need to give it sometime to gather the signals again. If you continue to have problems it is best to contact Garmin because this happened after doing an update. 1-800-800-1020

Do you have a lot of tint in your windows?

Have you tried an external traffic antenna?

Jordan, I bought the NUVI-1490LMT from you guys a few years ago. In the interest of increasing the range of the traffic info, I am considering buying the above external antenna. Your website and the Garmin site list it as suitable for the GMT-60HP, 25 or 35 Traffic receiver antenna/power cord, but do not list the GMT-26 power cord/receiver, which is what my NUVI-1490 LMT came with. Is this accessory compatible with the GMT-26?

Sorry....all the above model numbers should have been GTM's not GMT's as in GTM-60HP, GTM-25 or GTM-35 vs. my mentio above that my Nuvi 1490LMT came with a GMT-26. Thanks in advance for your reply.

The external Traffic antenna will work with the traffic receiver included with the nuvi series (1490LMT).
