Traffic Function Missing?

I have a 2360LMT which is supposed to provide traffic info. I've only used it twice so far and so far I do not seem to see anything that suggests it provides any traffic info whatsoever. It came with a FM receiver (part of the power cord) in the box. But nothing traffic related comes up on the screen's map and, near as I can tell, a "Traffic" menu does not exist in the "Settings" menu. I'd very much appreciate any advice that you all may have regarding whether something is incorrectly setup on my unit.

Thanks

Hello Craig,

You will only see the traffic icon in the top left of your navigation page when the FM receiver is getting data. Your area may not be covered. Try using Google Maps Traffic to see if there is any coverage in your area.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the reply. I checked Google Maps Traffic and see that my area does appear to be covered. I live in Chicago. So I would expect fairly decent coverage. I travel one of the major interstate highways (I-90) and nothing is picked up. I finally found the traffic menu under Settings (this menu option only appears when the unit is docked and disappears when undocked). At any rate...it shows that Traffic is "enabled" and the subscription says it is lifetime. So not sure why I pick up nothing so far. Very disappointing! Any ideas?

Hello Craig,

If the power cable is plugged into power then you should get the updates automatically. Please try updating your unit with webupdater. If that does not work you can contact Garmin for tech assistance. 1-800-800-1020. You can also get a replacement if Garmin deems it defective within Garmins warranty or the resellers.

Cheers

I am having the same problem. I live in the Chicago area and I received this product in February and was getting the traffic icon on my map screen until recently. Not sure if it is a problem with NAVTEQ or something else. I talked with Garmin support and they suggested doing a master reset by unplugging the unit and turning it off, then applying pressure to the bottom right corner of the screen and turning the unit on without being plugged in to the cord. The screen will laod and then ask if it is OK to erase all saved data (you will lose all of your favorites and settings unless they are backed up), select yes, and the unit will "reboot" itself. I am goign to see if this fixes the problem for me today. Good luck all.

I received my first Garmin 2360LMT in February 2012. The traffic icon never worked properly. The traffic symbol was random and sporadic, working fine some days, and not others, working in one direction of my commute and then not the return or visa-versa. After months of working with Garmin, reloading/updating software, performing a master reset, resetting FM tables I finally asked for a new unit which they sent me upon the return of my defective unit. There was never ever a GRAY traffic symbol, in the area on the display, it was just blank.

I have to say that initially I thought I would have the same problem with the new unit. Because of the sporadic nature of the problem, I believed it had more to do with an inconsistency in the FM traffic symbol than with the unit. However I was initially proven wrong.

I received and registered my new Garmin Nuvi 2360LMT on May 6th, 2012 and have used it ever since. Immediately it worked significantly better than my original unit. The traffic symbol was almost always present, changing colors to reflect traffic on my route. In fact, from May 6th to June 17th, the unit at most lost the the "traffic" ability 4-5 times with over 30 trips back & forth to work, and two trips to the Cape

In at least two of the "lost" occasions, the symbol came back within 20 miles of my 50 mile commute.

But just recently, I seem to be having the same problem I had with my first unit. All of a sudden on Monday June 18th, I had no signal on my way to work or back, then the next day I had it on the way to work, but not back and again on Weds no signal , Thursday (6/22) no signal to work, then on the way home it showed up, but within a mile of driving it disappeared and never came back. Friday 6/23) I had a signal to work, but not on the way home... This pattern was the same for the week of June 25th to the 29th.

I recently reset the FM traffic tables as they suggested again and this has not helped. Garmin reps are always cordial, responsive and very willing to help, but I cannot seem to get this resolved and I do not believe another unit will fix the issue.

I could not find out if they ever investigated why my original unit had the same problem? Was it the GPS unit or the Traffic cable? With this happening for a second time on a new unit, I find it hard to believe that I would be the only one experiencing this issue. Is this a common problem? If so, do you know the cause? Better yet the fix???

This is not an issue brought up with us often. Because you have had two units with the same issue I would investigate reception in your area. When you loose signals is it close to the same place each time? If you check the traffic coverage map are you on the edges of coverage?

I would try a extended traffic antenna to see if that helps.

When you do an update to the unit or reset it it may take a little longer to track traffic again. Garmin is the best place to get support on this issue for they get more feedback on issues with devices. I hope you get this solved.

The problem occurs in multiple locations. If it was a signal issue, why would I have not had any problems the first 30days? It is the same commute. I looked at the maps when I had my first unit. There are no-coverage areas, but I also lose the signal or have no signla in areas marked as stroing coverage. It would be nice if Garmin had a signal strength indicator. It also does not explain why I never get a grey symbol if there is no signal.

Thanks for responding.

Jordan, is the cable a secondary antenna or is it just an adapter to raise the present antenna closer to the windshiled?

The antenna can be mounted closer to the windshield. The antenna in the unit is already just a few inches from the unit on the power cable. Have you moved the position of the GPS since you last had good traffic reception?

It could be that there are service issues with the traffic signals in your area. If you try again in a few days the system may be working like normal. If it is not feel free to contact Garmin for assistance. They should no more about any issues with your unit and traffic in your area.

I have the 3760T and bought the Life Time Traffic back in May 11'. Now all of a sudden, the Traffic tab under Settings is gone, even when docked. WTH? Went from Foxboro to Hartford and nothing. I went under My Account on Garmin, and it says nothing about LTT?? This should be fun. I paid $80 for it! Any help would be great.
