I am wondering if anyone else noticed that the feature of 3-D Terrain View is missing from the new 2360s. It is (or was) listed as a feature both on this website and Garmin's website, and many other websites too. But, when I got the unit and realized it does not have it, I checked Garmin and the feature has been removed from the feature list! It had been listed as "3-D Terrain View now possible at low zoom levels."

What gives?? It was one of the reasons I spent more for this model, and I am a bit bummed. In the photo of the 2360 on some websites it even SHOWS the 3-D Terain view on the screen!

If anyone knows anything about this, please do tell. Much appreciated.

Hello Dave,

We noticed the change also and had to change our site after finding out. We have no reason why this happened. Terrain view is available still but only if you zoom out, but not in 3D. Just DEM terrain shading.

Cheers

Thanks for your post Dave. You are right, all the web pages including Garmin had 3D terrain as one of the features. Some even had 3D building. I wanted to purchase this GPS but now I think I will pass. I live near the mountains so 3D terrain is a feature I want.

On Garmin's web site, the features listed for the 2360LMT do not include 3D building or terrain. This is also apparent when you use their feature to compare multiple models. The only model that appears to have 3D is the 3790LMT

There is still a 3D Category in the Menu Setup on the Nuvi 2360LMT but quite frankly I can't see any difference between the 3D and normal. You find the 3D Category by going to SETTINGS> NAVIGATION> AUTOMOBILE> MAPVIEW which gives you choices of: Track Up, North Up or 3D Hopefully someone with greater knowledge in this area than I possess can provide us with some answers.

Hello Chevcobra,

There is no 3D in the nuvi2360LMT. All you get is an angled map like other GPS models which is called 3D. For true 3D you need to move into the nuvi3790LMT. Also real 3D only works in some areas.

Hello Jordan,
I am well aware that there is no 3D in the Nuvi2360LMT The purpose of my Post dated 6 FEB was to discreetly add further info to Dave's post. The 2360LMT was advertised widely as having 3D In fact, the press release made on 2 Sept 10 from their hdqtrs at Olathe, Kansas carried the following "And the road ahead comes to life with nüvi 2360LT through 3D terrain and shaded topography that provides unrivaled context and situational awareness." The Category for 3D still exists in our 2360LMT's, it was obviously dropped and we would like to know WHY.

Hello Chev,

There is no reason why provided by the manufacturer. It could have been stripped out of the unit or it could have been a typo from one of the marketing people at Garmin. If you are looking for those features then the unit you will want is the nuvi 3790LMT.

Cheers

I waited a long time for the 2xxx series, as I liked the software of the 37xx series, but wasn't fancy on the screen. The 2360 should have been the dream combo... the software of the 3790 and screen of the trusty 1390... now they cripple the software.

Maybe I'll have to look at the 3790 again...

Hello Jay,

The nuvi 23XX is a starter GPS with voice activation. The nuvi 37XX is still the creme de la crop in comparison. We apologize about the confusion created around this unit.

Cheers
