I'm looking for a "best for all purposes" GPS for a snowmobile, streetbike and car. They've come out with some really good snowmobile trail maps, but certain reviews I've read say that the 500 is very sensative to vibration... likes to shut off, change settings, etc. Is this true? How good is the motorcycle mount if used on a snowcross type snowmobile wich will be riding over VERY rough terrain at high speed... will the mount hold? Is there a better GPS to be looking at?

Hello Don,

I have not seen any problems with the nuvi 550 in high vibration uses. I would not recommend ththe nuvi 550 for advanced outdoor use like snowmobiling but it can be used for such activities. I generally recommend a full featured handheld like the Garmin Oregon 450 for outdoor activities like snowmobiling. You can use the nuvi 550 on the street with no issue. It just lacks outdoor features compared to a Handheld.

Cheers
Jordan
