I am currently using MapSource 6.15.11 software - will this work with the Garmin Nuvi 3750?

If not, what software is needed?

Thanks

Hello Dave,

Using Mapsource you can only send(upload) waypoints to the nuvi 37XX unit from the PC. You can download waypoints and tracks from the nuvi 37XX to the computer.

Routes must be created on the unit.

What would you like to do with mapsource? There may be a better solution based on your use.

Cheers

I use my GPS to create a large number of routes for birdwatching - being able to do this on the computer would be better than trying to do it on the unit I think. As one gets older the larger screen and keyboard make all the difference.

Hello Dave,

For birdwatching you are better off with a Handheld GPS made for outdoor use. I would not recommend a vehicle navigator. The Oregon 450 or 550 are better units for outdoor use. You will have no issues creating routes on a computer and sending them over to a Oregon GPS.

I use the GPS to get me [and my car] to and from the birding locations - once there I just mark the car as a waypoint so I can find my way back to it

I should also mention that I lead a group and will print out the route directions for them to follow.

Hello Dave,

Ok, as long as your not relying on the unit outside the car you should be fine. You can share destination points with your friends easily and they can navigate to them using their GPS unit. If they don't have a GPS yet, you can print them a map. You can upload routes to the Nuvi 550 GPS but it has a smaller screen. It is more of an all around GPS for most uses.

Cheers
Jordan
