Saving Cities as Favorites?

I have used the older nuvi 265 and the new 3790 and I noticed the 3790 no longer displays the full address (i.e. the city and state name) of a favorite when I select it as my destination. I cannot find any other way to have it display the city name of a favorite. Is that possible?

Hello Psymon,

It all depends on how you save the Favorite. If you touch a road and save that location it will save the city if the city is displayed in the details before you hit save. Also if you look up an address and add it too favorites it will have the city and address info also.

If you place a point in the middle of a field it will have no city or address detail.

I am not sure of a way to add the city after the point is saved at this time.

I hope the above makes sense.

Cheers

Clicking on a list of saved favorites, it only lists the street name and number (eg. 12345 Macleod Trail) but it does not say 'Calgary' or 'Los Angeles' not to mention the province or state. It doesn't show on the map either and this is the case for when I have set all the settings to more detail than less. But for the 265 clicking on a favorite it shows the destination on a map and also the full address including the first 3 letters of the postal code. Am I missing something

Hello Psymon,

That is odd. I tested it with our nuvi 3790lmt with no problems. I would give it another try. Please note it will only work if you save points in the manner I mentioned above. The point must display the city data before you save it or it will not save.

Cheers

The city does show for sure when you enter an address and save it as a favorite (as it is part of the procedure to specify country, state and city first before entering street number and names). However, once it's a favorite, it no longer tells you which city it is when you retrieve it. Is that not the case in your testing? I find that becomes a minor issue with metropolitan areas where there are multiple cities clustered together.

When I save the way I mentioned the city data is retained. The only issue I can foresee now is that you are running a different firmware version. Please try updating your GPS unit. Garmin has a free program called webupdater to do the job.

Hi Jordan I have found the proper way to show the address, for those who are interested and don't know - after choosing a saved favorite a map showing the destination location is displayed. Tapping on the name callout shows what I wanted - the name, address, first 3 letters of postal code, and phone numbers and ratings if entered. In the old 265WT I used this screen is shown before the map of the favorite.

Hello Psymon,

Sorry I did not mention you had to go into the Favorite details by click on the black bubble. I assumed that is what you were doing. Thank you for making things clear.

Cheers
Jordan
