I just purchased my first GPS so I have a lot to learn. I bought a Garmin 1490LMT. I've reg'd it and seem it have it working ok.

My Question is, do I have USA maps? I have CDN maps now. We will be in the states next month and I want to know the unit is good to go. Is there anything else I need to do? We are flying down and then renting a car, where I plan to use the gps.

Hello Chuck,

When you perform an update on the 1490 LMT it will loose a portion of its coverage. If you run the update again you can make sure you have the area's you need. There is a selection that includes all of Canada and most of the USA. It will drop the SE states from the unit. If you are going there then there are other selections you can try.

When running the update wizard read each screen carefully so you dont miss the map selection button. Please let us know if you need additional assistance.
