What Garmin GPS units would have enough memory to load the most recent 2GB+ European maps? I'm looking to purchase something soon for a trip. Thanks for your help.

Hi needinfo,
None of the non-Eropean units have the memory capacity to load all of Europe, however all Garmin nuvi units have microSD/SD card slots for extra mapping. The European maps are available preloaded onto a MicroSD/SD card, or on DVD, which can be downloaded to a blank memory card.
Thanks!

Roxie, to clarify this answer, does that mean you can download the new European map to the microSD/SD card and then load part of it into the 1370T or any nuvi? Can you select what parts will be available while navigating?

Hello,

The 1370T comes pre-loaded with all of Europe. If you are looking to load your own sections of Europe to a non Europe unit like a nuvi 255W you would load the additional mapping to an SD card from the City Navigator DVD. The SD would be in the unit previous to dropping the maps on it. Or you are able to download the Europe maps, in this instance you cannot break them up and load only the areas you are traveling to.

Hope this helps!

I bought a Magellan 1440 thinking I could eventually add a Euro map. To my consternation now that I need the Euro map they tell me this unit is not compatible.
My needs are West Euro maps, lane assist and maybe 3D topography visuals would be nice. What reasonably priced Garmin will provide these features?

Hello Peter,

All Current Garmin driving GPS units are compatible with Europe mapping and are reasonably priced. To get 3D topo you need to get the nuvi 3790LMT and add Garmin europe maps to it. Or you could look at the nuvi 1370 or 2370. They come with Europe preloaded (no 3D topo).

Cheers
