I did some tests on the Demo unit I have and your problem may be with the Memory card. The card may be corrupted. I would call the company you purchased it from to get a replacement unit or different unit. I would recommend a Garmin or Tomtom unit for better maps, support, and device.

I ordered a pre-loaded memory card off of gpscity.com because I lost my former memory card. When I received it I put it in and it said nothing was on it to insert a sd card with the info on it. I put the card in the laptop and there was nothing on it. Was wondering if pre-loaded ment what I thought it ment or if it ment nothing at all. Do I need to get another card and send this one back or what?

What is the part number of the memory card you purchased? I don't recall carrying or selling a map update card for that unit. We sell a blank card compatible with that unit but not preloaded cards.

Is the GPS brand Goodyear? If so, you may not need a new map card, but rather just a reset of the unit itself. According to Goodyear's website, the standalone GPS units can be reset by pressing the small reset button on the bottom of the unit. Alternately, for a new map card, you will have to contact Goodyear directly, http://www.thencc.com/goodyear/support.html.
