Garmin Traffic Map, Flashing Lights?

The Garmin nuvi 755t apparently comes with something called a GTM 20 FM traffic receiver. Is that something that has to be activated? I frequently see the green traffic icon on the left side of the screen but as yet have not gotten any actual traffic info.

Here is a link to the Traffic map for the RDS traffic system provided by Navteq. http://www.navteq.com/rdstraffic/

What are the lights doing on your cigarette lighter power adapter(Traffic Receiver). The lights will flash different codes if the traffic receiver is getting the right signals. The codes can be found on Page 27 of the online manual for the product. If the status LED is solid Green you are getting normal traffic data.

If you see an icon on your map you should be able to touch it. When you do it should bring up the traffic map. Touch "traffic search" to view a list of details about the traffic tie up.
