I'm a first time gps purchaser about to order above and accessories including Mexico maps. There is apparently a choice of download, CD or sd card. (Are all three identical? What is adaptor for the latter?) Garmin USA recommends sd as download could replace portions of preloaded North America maps (Is there really that little capacity?) Reviews on GPSCity website are majority negative. Any recommendations? Thank you Rob Parker

Hello Rob,
We always recommend buying the maps on DVD/CD because you get the ability to use the maps on your PC/MAC for pre-planning trips. When you buy it preloaded you can only use the maps on the GPS unit.

Cheers
Jordan

Thank you..but (due to ignorance and inexperience) does using the CD to preplan your trip mean you load in a route, with waypoints and directions and all of that, but that's all you have with you on the trip - no ability to reroute, choose a sidetrip you hadn't thought of before you left etc.?
Appreciate the prompt response, as you can tell am very much a newbie..Best wishes rp
