How to enter an address on the Nuvi 255W?

Using my GPS I would like to travel from my home to
2159 Blvd. Saint-Martin East, Laval, QC., H7E 4X6.
A) I press "where to" on the screen.B) I press "adresse"
C) I press "spell city" & enter "Laval". Laval, QC shows
up on next screen. D) I press "Laval, QC" & the new
screen asks to "enter house number" I enter 2159.
E) The new screen asks me to "enter street" I enter "Boul.
Saint Martin East" I receive the reply "no matches
found"
Please advise where I went wrong...

Hello Bernard,

Enter the street name as St Martin.
The Nuvi will automatically give the option for St-Martin (E,O).
Select this and it will display "2159 Boulevard St-Martin E Laval, QC H7E."
The Nuvi will not recognize the abbreveation "Boul."

Thank you for your answer (jul 3, 2011 12:06 PM).
I folowed your info & entered stret name as St Martin.
You can appreciate the NUVI did not give me the option
to enter a dash "-" between St & Martin.
Contrary to your info it did not give me the option for
St-Martin (E,O). It simply indicated "no matches found".
Maybe postal code H7E 4X6 is not Laval. E.G. I live in
Montreal (Pointe aux Trembles which is a city of the city
of Montreal) if I want to go someplace in area of Pointe
aux Trembles...I must enter the city as Pointe aux Trembles
(not Montreal). Maybe it`s the same for the city of Laval
e.g. St-Martin Street, H7E 4X6 maybe another city
within the city of Laval.
Maybe the solution W/B to verify with Canada Post before using
my NUVI ???. What do you think ?. Maybe a larger NUVI W/B
my answer. Again any info rec`d W/B appreciated. Probably
documentation, if any available from you w/b my answer.

Hello Bernard,

To enter in a Dash you will need to hit the special character button on the nuvi keyboard. I was able to find the address in your original post by entering just "st-martin" in the street prompt. I recommend keep it simple when it comes to entering street names. Enter just the name of the street with no street suffix like Boulevard or rue.
