I am planning a trip to Europe, and have read reviews about the 1370T and 2370LT models on the web. I've seen more than a few issues related to incomplete map updates (apparently, not enough internal memory for all North America and all Europe map updates, which these 2 models should cover...). What is your recommendation between the 2 models? Would adding an aftermarket microSD memory card solve that issue? If so, what capacity do I need?

Also, for pedestrian mode and cityXplorer, is there a significant difference between these two models with respect to battery life?

Finally, for mac users, are there particular plugins needed to be installed on the computer prior to connecting the GPS for the 1st time?

Thanks!

For the nuvi 1370
When doing the first free update make sure that you install it to your hard drive also. There is a selection in the update wizard. Then you can send the map to a SD card. The max map you can create is 4Gb so a 4Gb card is fine (8Gb will work if you need pictures on the card also). The map stored on the PC/MAC can be placed on a SD card via Mapinstall. Best to update Europe for it is the largest and takes up the most memory. Same can be done with the 2370.

The 2370 should not have a memory issue that I know of like the 1370.

There is no battery difference for Pedestrian mode, mainly different routing that I have seen. With City explorer you get transit in the routing. Make sure that you turn down the back-light and turn off bluetooth for better battery performance. Also turn the unit off often and use it for occasional reference if possible on long walks. The unit will charge when plugged into the vehicle when done. You can also get a separate AC charger, just check the accessory tab above.

The device will act as a mass storage device so no drivers needed for basic use. When using it with your browser for updates and registering you will be prompted to install Garmin Connect. This plug-in is useful for other sites.
