Updating the data base /entering waypoints

Hi,
I bought an Area 500 in late July with databases out of date (May 2012). So I used the coupon I was provided with to update the DBs and through it away. Now I see that the update has not worked.

When storing FPLs the first time, I created names of small towns in Quebec and I got the coordinates for the waypoints. Now this no longer seems to work. Has trying to update the DB corrupted the data?

Your advise would be appreciated.

I don't like forwarding you onto Garmin but we do not have a demo model of the Aera to assist you properly. Please call Garmin at 1-800-800-1020 (do not email).
