Is the ecoRoute HD device compatible with older Nuvis?

I understand my Garmin 755T is not compatible with the ecoRoute hd, only with 5 of the latest models. This makes absolutely no sense to me UNLESS it is a marketing ploy to sell their latest GPS units. It seems to me Garmin is shooting itself in the foot with this misguided strategy. I believe they would sell a ton of these, even at $149.99 a pop if compatible with an expapnded nuvi list. Seems dumb to me. And you can tell them so.

Hello Johnp37,
Garmin Ecoroute HD is for the new units with Bluetooth only. Your unit does not have bluetooth so can never be upgraded to be compatible unless Garmin comes out with a wired version. Technology is always changing and some older product will not support new features or technology advancements.

Yes I DAM well agree stupid people would sell a hell of a lot more if the HD unit would work with more Garmin systems, never mind what all them other arm chair forcasters see or read into, you are 100% correct in your satement. Cheers good thought!!!

I am still burnning over this EcoRoute HD unit < I just bought a 765T Garmin Nuvi and am pissed that the HD unit aparently is not compatable with my unit, If it is a way for Garmin to sell more of there new units shame on them, the math says that they should of made a upgrade system for there other units so you can apply the EcoRoute HD to the , because I will be damed if I am going to piss away another $330 Can. for another one of there GPS unis, and I hope some other company comes up with a full applyable GPS unit because then I can put this unit under my tire and run it over,me an the 2400 other members that use them to navagate around this city, ouruses this 765 T for our vehicals and it would of been great for our fleet to have that extra capabilaty, good thinking Garmin You might of just lost a customer. THANKS!!!!!!

The Nuvi 765T does not support ecoroute HD even though it has bluetooth. Garmin only added that feature to the new series.

** Please note the original conversation was about a Nuvi 755 that does not have bluetooth **

Not all new GPS's from Garmin will support the Ecoroute HD.
I just received an email from Garmin. I asked if their new nüvi 3790T, due to be released this summer will support the Ecoroute HD, they said "no". This makes no sense whatsoever.

You are listing on your website that this works with the nuvi 3760, 3790, but the previous post reported that Garmin said the 3790 won't support it. I have a 3790 and the Ecoroute menu doesn't show the option to sync to the Ecoroute HD and I have the latest firmware installed. Is there a pending firmware update or won't it be supported?

That is correct the NEW 37XX series does not do EcoRoute HD. Garmin only included it with the Bluetooth enabled Nuvi 12XX, 13XX and 14XX units. I have not heard of Garmin working on a firmware upgrade as of yet. I wouldn't count on EcoRoute HD being supported.

The unit does have ECO-Route but not the ability to communicate with your vehicles computer (HD). Its a little confusing. For assistance please feel free to call us.

I was confused because under Product Compatibility you have listed on your website that it works with the 3790 and it didn't state that it did on the Garmin website. I also asked Garmin because of the confusion and they responded that the 3790 will support HD in the firmware update that is expected to come out in late July.

We will have to wait to see if the 3790 will be supported. Garmin Normally does not give that information out. Until then I would not buy a HD cable for the Nuvi 37XX Series

EcoRoute HD will not work with the 3790T as of yet, since there has not been any firmware updates released for the 37xx series. We are still waiting for a firmware released, and Garmin has confirmed with me that a update will come shortly to add compatibility with the EcoRoute.

Where is the ecroroute HD software for the 1690? There is nothing on the Garmin site, nothing for my updates. I bought this to use with my 1690, but no software available? Someone must have it, if so any chance you can put it somewhere to share with the community?

Thanks

Hello Robb,

The HD cables purchased from GPS City are compatible with the Nuvi 1690 but first you need to update the GPS unit. Once you update the unit you can set up the HD Ecoroute cable through the ecroute menu's.

I know about the software required, my problem is that on the Garmin site there is no where to get the HD update. It has been removed. Again, does anyone know where else to get it, or does someone have the download available? Garmin customer service is not answering me at all.

Hello Robb,

I pulled a Canadian version from stock and it is missing the option to syn to the HD cable. This may be an oversight by Garmin since the nuvi 1690 is not a popular unit in Canada. I will have our US location try a US version to see if their unit is any different.

** If you are trying to contact Garmin the best way is by phone. Emails may get spam filtered and emails are easier to forget about than phone calls**

The phone wait is over 1/2 hour so far. If they will not have this option available to me in Canada, will I be able to exchange my unit I bought from you for one that does? I really want to keep the 1690, so maybe they will send me the link to enable this.

Hello Robb,

We just tested a unit from our USA stock and it works fine. I have let Garmin know the Canadian version is not working in the same manner. In order to get it fixed I recommend you call them also. I know it is a long wait on hold but they may be able to assist you. Plus the more people telling them there is an issue the quicker it will be resolved. I think the problem is with the GPS unit and not the HD cable.

Cheers

It is the GPS unit as there is no icon to connect to the HD cable. They keep sending me emails telling me to do the same thing, I tell them there is no connect option, they tell me the same steps again. Not a very good support system.
