Why does the Nuvi 1300 goes into mass storage mode?

I wired the power cable to my motorcycle. When the power is turned The green LED lights up but the GPS goes into the mass storage mode as if it was hooked up to a computer. It comes on and works fine with the cigarette lighter power cord supplied. Is there a setting or something that needs to be changed?

Here is a link to the cable that is recommended for use on a bike with a nuvi 13XX.

Jordan, that is the cable that I am using. It might have something to do with the traffic alerts in the GPS, at least that is what Garmin tech thinks.

It should not go into mass storage mode when using the bare wire cable.

I would suggest returning the cable that does not work for this one.

In your first post you mentioned the green light turns on but unit goes into mass storage. the above cable does not have a green light so I do not think you have that one yet. If the above cable does not work it is most likely the unit.

Look it's not the cable, it works fine with the Nuvi 1300 without the traffic info. If you don't know how to or if there is a setting change to make it work' just say so. It has been a waste of my time to go to you for help in this matter.

There is no setting you can change if it is a problem with the cable. Traffic is not the issue. By what you said the Gilsson cable is the issue. I suggest you return the cable and get the one recommended.

I have tested the cable I mentioned without issues with the 13XX and other Garmin nuvi's and Garmin Handhelds. You could try another Gilsson bare wire cable but you may have the same problem with your nuvi 1300.
