The Garmin Zumo motorcycle power cable is for a hardwire install only. One has to leave the cradle or mount outside in the rain. It would be nice if a waterproof sealed connector was available to allow the user to remove the mount and GPS navigator off the motorcycle away from weather and thieves.

I would recommend buying some waterproof or rugged connectors and creating a quick disconnect on the cable so you can easily remove the cable when needed. I would recommend a trailer hitch power style { Try searching Pico - 2-Way Trailer Connector (0710PT)}. It has two connectors and can be spliced into the current power cable where you want to be able to disconnect it. Be sure to use solder and heat shrink unless you get the crimp style. You can also get weather caps for them. If you explain what you want to do to your local auto shop they may have the parts for you.

Or you can try some Fork tongue electrical connectors. you can find them at most auto shops. To remove the cable using the fork tongue's you just loosen the battery posts and pull the Garmin power leads out. This is not the best way.
