Shorten USB wiring harness?

Can the wiring harness be shortened without affecting the output voltage? I do not want to go all the way to the battery and hope to find switched power in the motorcycle's headlight bucket.

The wiring harness can be shortened without affecting the voltage output but would require some work as the in-line fuse should be relocated along the line.
It would be simpler just to coil the wiring within the headlight bucket as most headlight buckets would have ample room to do so.
