HI! Will this work for a Nuvi 760? It seems to be the same fit as the ones listed, but I wanted to make sure. THank you!

Here is a link to the Garmin cable. I am unsure if the one you are looking at will work. Please note that the USB cable is for data transfer and if you want to power the unit you will need the 18pin cable that plugs into the cradle. You can charge using the USB cable on some computers but the unit will not operate properly for navigation when plugged in using the USB cable.

Jordan:

Thank you - but I need the cable that will allow me to connect a USB port in my car to my Garmin Nuvi 760 and charge it instead of transfer data from it. Is this the correct cord for that?

Also, if I want to extend this cord, could I attach this cord to a USB to USB extension cord and it work? Or does the different number of pins make it non-compatible?

The nuvi 760 does not power properly via the USB port. When you plug a USB cable in it will go into mass storage mode. The nuvi 7XX is meant to be power via the 18 pin connector and the cradle.

The cable will power units that have the cigarette lighter cable plug into the GPS via the usb port. Here is the list of compatible units.

Thank you Jordan!

Just to clarify, the 202-0033-18 (also GUSB5V-B) 18 inch cable will not power up my Nuvi 760, allowing me to use it for navigation in my car via the USB connection on the other end?

Currently my Nuvi 760 has a cradle, that has a flat and thin connection on one end (that hooks into the side of the cradle) and a cigarette lighter cable plug on the other (which powers the GPS), and then in order for me to transfer data/updated map information onto my GPS, I use a cord that has a miniUSB connected to the bottom of the GPS (not the cradle) with a USB plug on the other end that I hook into my computer. In my new car, there is a USB outlet (but no cigarette lighter outlet), so my question is, if I get this cord, will I be able to take away the cradle and use the miniUSB and USB cord with part number 202-0033-18 (also GUSB5V-B) in order to power my garmin nuvi 760 and use it for navigation?

Then, my next question, if the first answer is yes, will I be able to use a USB to USB extender that I can buy at walmart to extend this cord to the USB outlet in my car? Or will the 18pin USB not connect to a normal USB extender? (the extender has a male end and female end allowing it to connect to a normal USB and make i

No you would need the 18pin Gilson cable if you want to hard wire it direct to a 12V source. I have seen the GUSB5V cable both work and not work with the nuvi 760. That is why I highly recommend getting the correct cable and not use a USB cable to power the unit.

The nuvi 760 will charge but in most cases not operate while plugged into USB power. It goes into mass storage mode.
