How does the adapter secure in to the Scotty base so it won't fall out? Does the screw expand the bottom like a well nut?

Hello Wayne,

It comes with a bolt, nut and washer to secure it to the scotty mount.

So do you have to remove your Scotty base to fit it to it and then put it back on, or can you remove more or less on the fly like with the wedge mounts?

You need to leave the female part in place then add this male adapter. The following option may work better for you. It is easier to remove.
