So when running I go on my own and am always trying to get a better time for my mile runs, does this watch have alarms to specific distances informing you to pick it up or an alarm to let you know you right on target at quarter mile distances? And if not what would be a good watch to use?

The forerunner 305 has a Time/Distance, Pace, and heart rate alert. It will tell you if you have reached a certain distance or time. The Pace will let you know if you need to speed up or slow down. The Heart rate monitor will let you know what zone you are in and if you HR is too low or high it will alarm. Tee alarm is audible only in this watch. If you want a vibration alarm that you can feel the Forerunner 910XT is the best one you can get.
