Another week added to when you will have them in stock? What is going on? This is terrible marketing!

The release date is only an estimate at this time.

Looks like Garmin is really taking the time to get this one right before they release it.

Given the high expectations of eager Garmin users let's hope they do (both get it right and release it), before the planned Ambit updates leave them behind. I know that I'm really itching to get this device out on the trails and see what it can do!

Yep. . . One more delay and I'm buying the Ambit.

I just got off the phone with Garmin for the real story. A rep told me that the release is mid October now. Garmin and dealers are not communicating. I think anyone who preordered deserves a very deep discount.

Sometimes the dates do push out, especially for first release products that are brand new out of the factory. Delays are usually due to FCC approval, final firmware going to release, or unforeseen production issues.

We are in daily contact with Garmin, in fact, we typically talk to them 5 to 6 times a day. The availability date we put up on each product page is the latest info we have from Garmin, and we update it each time the date changes.

GPS City is typically one of the first on-line vendors to receive new release products from Garmin. Because of this, we strive to show the most accurate availability date, even if it changes. Our customers deserve the best information we can provide.

Shame on all involved. Don't release a date until it is firm. It is far too easy to blame Garmin - "these are the dates they give us." It doesn't take long to figure out, if that statement is true, that the dates are meaningless so stop using them. FCC approval is finished on this item and if there are still firmware upgrades to come - don't release the bad date. Very simple communication between you and your customers. This is silly and will make folks cancel orders, and stop doing business with dealers. I'm in the market to replace a Zumo 550 and add a GPSMAP 62SC. Post the dates when they are known and don't yank your customers' chain.

Never understood why companies give a release date and never stick to it.
I assume its to push sales up, but it just serves to upset consumers.
Hi Jordan, if you can get a hold of Garmin again, just let them know, if they want to announce a release date, they should stick to it, and do firmware updates, or don't announce a date until it is firm.
I had this happen once before with a sport action camera.
I purchased it, and they kept pushing back the release date, a total of 3 months. Needless to say, I cancelled and took my business elsewhere.
Not here to tell anyone how to run their business, just giving you a consumers perspective.

Yup. I am really disappointed in the release date changes. I got my holidays from work just in time to get the watch for the August 29th and then go on holidays to Banff National Park. But no watch to go with. I just got back today and see another delay. I paid extra to have it delivered by Aug.29. Thanks to the delay I made, just for the watch, it snowed on Mt.Temple 2 days before my attempt. I wish I had a Barometer on my wrist to tell me these things! :-P
This is not good customer service on Garmins part.

Thanks for everyone's comments. We appreciate everyone's concern - this is going to be one hot item!

Our first shipment has arrived and we are processing our pre-orders in the order they were received.

For new releases like this, we always fill our pre-orders first, as is our custom. If this consumes all our received stock, as often happens if the item is on allocation, the availability date will push out until our next incoming shipment.

Additional shipments are expected soon (and may even be on their way) and we will always show our most current information for the availability date.

Thank you for the update, Brad, but I think I will pick it up at a retail outlet.
The problem with ordering online is, if there is an issue with the unit, it will cost even more money to ship it back to you for replacement.
I find this to be the only issue with ordering online anymore.
At a retail outlet, you can just return the item, with no shipping charges.
I have had this happen 3 times with online orders, and can't justify paying $30.00 for every defective unit.
Please note, I have had no issues with GPSCITY.CA.
Consumers require companies/resellers to foot the bill for returns, or at least I do, before I place any more orders online.
I appreciate the update, though, and am glad Garmin got their dates sorted out.
