My Garmin Forerunner 305 has ceased making any sounds. It is a refurbished model that I bought from you folks in August (five months ago). Apparently this is a known issue with this model. Is this still under warranty? Can it be fixed?

Have you tried updating and reseting the Forerunner 305? If a update and Reset do not work then the unit will need to be replaced or repaired. I suggest calling Garmin at 1-800-800-1020.

To reset the Forerunner 305 (Backup all workouts first)
- Turn the unit off
- With the unit off hold the Mode button
- Power the unit on while holding the Mode button
- do not let go of the Mode button until you are prompted to erase all user data.
- Select Yes

I reset it last week to clear stored workouts. It was after the reset that it stopped making sounds.

Have you tried the rest again? Did you also check the menus to make sure the tones are still enabled

I don't see anywhere to set the tones. There are a lot of Alert settings, but they tend to relate to heart rate and such. Where is the menu item to generally turn sounds on and off.
