I have an Etrex 20. I want to know if this mount would be durable enough to mount to the handlebars of a BMW R1200GS. I do not want to spend 6-700+ for a BMW GPS and matching mount. I will not be doing too much offroad stuff..mainly touring. But it would be nice to be able to switch from the motorcycle to my mountain bike as well. The GPS mount that RAM suggested for my bike was really large and stuck out too much. I am looking for something a little more streamlined. Thanks

The better mount would be the ram-b-149z-a-ga48u in my opinion. But the one you are looking at should work fine for you

I have a couple different questions around the GPScity website...but to get back on topic with this one...I understand the RAM mount is preferred. But this particular mount that i am interested in will be used solely for road riding and no offroading. The GPS I will use for various applications, but the mount will only be for road riding. My other issue is that the handlebars on the GS are similar to a Pro-Taper bar and I believe it is larger than 1" diameter. This particular mount uses zip ties and can then be adjusted to fit any diameter. The other mount I was considering is this one...Ez-Strap Bike Mount RAP-SB-187-GA48U.
Would you recommend one over the other? As I said before too...I just am looking for something low profile that will fit neatly between the handle bar clamps. And the GPS is not for real navigating, rather to check with when I take rest stops and to record trips and things like that. I would not really be looking at it for turn to turn assistance. Thank you again for the tips. Whichever route I go, I will surely be ordering from you guys!

The eTrex 20 is a very light unit and would be fine with this mount. Just be sure to check the zip ties regularly.
