When I looked at the additional images for this cradle it is displayed with a 1" ball fastened to the back. I see that it's held in place by two screws making me believe in fact that it is not included. Does this connection come with it?

Hi Greg,

You're right the Ram-B-238u is not included and you will need one of these to connect to any of Ram's 1" socket arms. Make sure it's included with your original order to avoid extra shipping charges.
