Does this mount allow you to use the Garmin's USB power connection while the gps unit is in the Ram Mount cradle? It looks like the USB power port is blocked in the stock photo.

Hello Brian,

To properly power the nuvi 7xx series you will want to plug the 18pin cable into the cradle of the nuvi. The unit will fit in this mount with the garmin cradle for power. You can also access the USB port but for proper powering of the unit please use the cradle.

Thanks. I currently power my Garmin's using the standard 12 volt USB charger.

I dont have the garmin mount that came with the gps. Do I have to use the Garmin mount that came with the unit or does this package come with everything needed to mount the gps without having the factory mount? If it doesn't need the factory mount, does it allow easy access to the USB port?

Hello Brian,

you can use the RAM mount without the factory mount. It is recommended to power the unit via the factory cradle.
