In the review section, a reviewer made the statement that the cradle blocks the GPS signal. An editor's note states that the iPad has no GPS capabilities. In fact certain models of the iPad do have GPS capabilities. I have a first generation iPad, 64gb, WiFi, 3Gs, and it does have a GPS receiver which I use with ForeFlight aviation software and moving map display. To get the GPS receiver you must have the WiFi 3Gs model as the lesser models to not include the GPS chip-set. From other reviews I see that other pilots use this mount in airplanes and do use moving map displays, so I am assuming that the cradle does not interfere with the internal GPS, but would like to know for sure. Please clarify. Thank you.
BTW, your site and videos are excellent and extremely helpful.

Just to be extra sure I checked the Apple website and the ipad and ipad2 do not have a GPS. The 3G versions have A-GPS (assisted) which is not GPS as the world knows it, for it must use cell phone towers to get a rough location. Real GPS uses satellites to figure out its location. GPS is more accurate and has world wide coverage. A-GPS will only work within cell range and within the specified network. (I returned my ipad for Xoom because of this)

With the ipad you can tether with a iPhone 4 and get GPS position data from the iphone sent to the ipad once per minute. (I could not verify the tethering but others say it works)

Thank you for the compliment.
