I am looking for something like this, but I need the back of the mount to be flat so I can mount velcro to the back of it so I can use it on my dash. Right now I am using velco on the back of a cheapo case.

Hello Jeff,
This mount does not have a smooth back but you may make it work with Velcro. An other option is the dash mount version. If you add this part to the holder you may find it better than using velcro.

Jordan - I have been reading concerns from many users of other iPhone 4 bike cradles that when going over a bump many people have experienced the iPhone popping out of the cradle! What is experience with this one?
thanks so much

Hello Stephen,

This mount holds onto the unit securely. We have videos on the holder that will show you that the concerns you saw are not referring to the RAM-mount system we sell. Here is the Iphone 3G holder video, the iPhone 4G version is almost the same except it fits the iPhone 4G.

I use one with my iPhone 3G and I have never had an issue with it popping out or coming close to popping out.

Will this mount work with the apple bumper on it? Or will the bumber need to be removed every time I want to use it?

Hello Todd,
RAM's cradles are built to the exact specifications of the unit so you will have to remove the bumper to use this cradle, something like a universal cradle would be better suited for use with the bumper http://www.gpscity.com/ram-mount-universal-mobile-phone-cradle-ram-hol-un3u.html

Hope this helps!
Cheers

The iPhone 4 product is the identical product to the iPhone (original) and not custom fit to the contours of the iPhone 4. I have personally experienced the phone popping out with a bump while riding a motorcycle and accelerating across a small pothole. If you put an original iPhone in the mount and lightly shake it, it makes no noise. With the iPhone 4 it makes some noise. This play is the culprit. The small tabs at the bottom and the spring clamp at the top cause the phone to dislodge. I believe it is as the phone is looser than normal in the mount as it is slightly smaller than the original, and that movement allows acceleration into the spring clamp, and just enough that it comes free of the tabs at the bottom. I have a video from the phones perspective as it fell... One big fat black rubber band across the clamp and top of the phone solves the problem.

The Iphone 4 mount is different than the original mount. The original one does fit the iPhone 4 but the one made for the iPhone 4 will fit better. Also you mentioned a spring clamp. The iPhone holders do not have springs. You may be referring to a different product. What you are explaining is a universal mount which would not be recommended unless you have a case you can not take off when using the mount.
