Kenwood KNA-G510 NT Maps Compatable?

I have this unit installed in my car and uses the Garmin navigation software. The unit has a mini-usb connector and according to Garmin's website uses the following map set: City Navigator® North America NT. The description says the lifetime updates is compatible with 'NT' compatible units. Do you know if they will work with the Kenwood KNA-G510?

Hello Derek,
Garmin has a specific update for your GPS unit. At this time you can not use the lifetime map update. The update you need is 010-10679-12 here is a link.

can you the new truck nav that garmin has out on the kna-g510
i have truck on mine now and have it in my truck it don't not work good for truck rote the way it should i have up dated it and it seam to work worst.mabe you can tell me if it will take the new mape up date of the new garmin truck update and if so were would i get them.thank bines

I have a Kenwood KVT-719DVD with the KNA-G510 GPS Navigation Add-On installed.

Will this update work for my setup?

Lifetime updates can not be used with Kenwood products. You will need the kenwood specific update.

I bought a vehicle with the Kenwood KVT-719DVD system and Garmin maps already installed. I would like to update the maps, but don't know how since it was pre-installed. Any help?

will "Garmin City Navigator North America NT 2012.10.img" work on kenwood KNA-G510? i can get a free download of it but want to be sure beofre i wasted my time, ive been researching and have found nothing

If it is a legal free download I suggest trying and if it doesn't work put your other map back in.

The download of the map is not free. The place you are downloading the map from may be providing it illegally. If that is the case I would suggest against the free download.

how do i go about saving the old maps? there preinstalled and im planning on putting them on a sd card and putting them into the unit which is located behind my glove box, and yes the download is legal, my buddy is giving me a copy from his garmin since he got lifetime map updates and theoretically it uses the same map pack

You will need to contact Garmin or Kenwood for assistance with backing up your maps.

The maps your buddy will be sharing with you are technically illegal of he cracked them. You only get one personal unlock license with a copy of City Navigator NT. He will not be able to share them with you. It just wont work. It is best to buy a legit copy of the updated maps for your GPS so you dont waste a lot of time using software that will add malware to your computers to get the Garmin map for free.
