I would like to use the flasher function ice fishing and and can rig the transducer to work in the hole, but am worried the LCD screen will freeze. Anyone have any experience using this model in winter?

I have not used this ice fishing but it will be possible to use it for that use. The screen on this unit is similar to other units that are made specifically for ice fishing. All screens on a device like this will slow down once you get below freezing. There are many ways to combat this. The first is to put the unit and battery in a insulted bag. Ice fishing units normally come with a insulated bad. That will help the unit retain its heat while it is operating. Also store the unit in a warm place before taking it outside to search for fish. If you store it outside it may not get warm enough to properly run. I do not ice fish but based on what I have seen most people will be in a shed when the temperature gets really low. Being in the shed will help the unit stay warm also.

I hope this helps while we wait for an experienced ice fisherman to comment.
