My older Garman 168 sounder quit half way thru last summer, I believe it was 10 years old and didn't owe me anything. I want to up grade to a new Garman. Will my existing transduser work with the 421 - hopefully "plug and play"? And, will the power cord fit and work with the 421? I'm Ok running the new power cord but I would rather not tamper with the thru-hull transducer. Would I have to go with the 421s?

Thanks
Jim

The power/data cable will be different but the transducer connection that connects to the power/data cable will be the same. The Garmin GPSMap 421S and GPSMap 168 share the same thru hull single frequency transducers in common on our site and Garmins so your transducer should plug into your cable and work.

If possible it would be best to verify the PN of your transducer and compare it to the accessories list for the 421S. That is a good way to know if it is compatible or not.

If your transducer is not listed let us know the PN and we can dig deeper.

I don't see it on the list but the tag attached to my cord to the transducer has P19 on it. A little searching shows it would be an Airmar P19: Search Results For: Model = P19
.P19

Depth & Temperature
200 kHz
375 W RMS
0°, 12°, or 20° Tilt

......

Will it work with the 421s? And to confirm I would require the 421s without the transducer combo and not the 421

The connector is a 6 pin round (about the size of a dime)

It should work because they share common accessories.
