Since i really dont want to drill holes in the hull, and I am not sure if the external mount transducer will stay on at top speeds..Will the Garmin Transducer 200 50KHz 15 45deg Plastic adj. In-Hull Mount unit work well with the 740s, for the purpose of depth and fish?..I assume it does not read water temp. How long is the cable as it would be installed in a 33 ft boat. Please advise if there is any other cables or adapters required to hook this up complete either for the 740s, or the transducer.....Thank you ...

If properly installed the transom mount will be fine at high speeds. All the transducers will work about the same with the unit. to verify what is the part number of the transducer you are interested in.

I was looking at either 010-10272-00 or 010-10327-00
Which do you reccomend and which one is better for my application...I guess with the transom mount..you still have to drill a hole to feed the wire through...how large of a hole is that..versus the in hull, could I place that right in the engine compartment bay and keep all the wires together with battery leads. Can the in hull transducer be placed in the engine well? or are the tranducers Susceptible to noise or vibrations that may come from the engines and what about the wire harnes, should it be run independently to avoid current waves from other electrical wires, or are they not that sensative?

If you do not have an access hole to pass the cable through, then you will need to drill a 18mm hole. The end is molded on so a larger hole is needed or you can cut the end off and buy a replacement end and re-terminate it afterwards. In that case you would only need a 4mm hole. I would put the hole above the water line.

I have used the 010-10272-00 and it works great. I have not tried the 010-10327-00 but if installed properly it should work about as good. The 10272 may work a little better because it does not need to shoot thru the hull of the boat.

Here are some install guides that will help you pick the best location and correct transducer.

If possible I would mount the transducer away from the engine if possible. The guides above will give you some ideas. It could be effected by engine noise. Every boat will be a little different. I have used the 10272 with in 3 feet of an 1975 Chrysler outboard engine with no noticeable problems.
