two questions
1. Is one frequency better than the other?
2. Is there any maps preloaded? I am looking for eastern Canada / US Coastal map so do I order separate?

Higher frequencies will give you better resolution and lower frequencies deeper penetration. The 50/200k and 83/200k transducers will be similar. The 455/800k are the structure scan frequencies that give you the really detailed view below your boat but they can not penetrate that deep.

The maps are not preloaded. The unit is compatible with Navionics cards. The cards cover the whole country. For Canada and the USA you will need one card for Canada and one for the USA. Links below
