Does this cover Georgian Bay and Lake Huron?, David, Tehkummah, Ontario, P0P 2C0 Does this new Lowrance Elite 5 Gold product with Gold chip include the marine charts for Georgian Bay, Lake Huron, and North Channel of Georgian Bay water ways?
Reply #1: Aug 3, 2010, 9:06pm Hello David,
This bundle includes a custom 2GB Navionics Gold micro SD card with Gold coastal/offshore coverage of US and Canadian waters along with coverage of the Great Lakes, Alaska, Hawaii, the Bahamas and over 125 major Canadian lakes.
Reply #2: Aug 16, 2010, 9:56am Hello, I'm in the process of buying a used Skeeter Bast boat that is being supplied with a brand new Elite 5. My question is, I primarily fish in Virginia and Texas. Would the lakes in those 2 states be included on the 2GB Navionics Gold chip?
Reply #3: Aug 17, 2010, 7:48am Hello Dave,
The Navionics Gold card we carry will cover the coastal areas of those states but not inland lakes. What you need is called HOTMaps by Navionics. We will be selling them very soon.
Reply #4: Aug 22, 2010, 2:08pm I don't have a reply but a question. I fish Lake Huron. Does the preload SD card cover Lake Huron contour lines or do I have to buy another card?
Reply #5: Aug 23, 2010, 8:33am Hello oViking,
The maps of lake Huron come preloaded on this unit or on the Navionics Gold card for Canada we sell.
SD Card link
"The Elite-5 sonar/chartplotter, packed with a special-issue Navionics® Gold chartcard featuring coastal U.S. and Canada detail, plus major Canadian lakes and Great Lakes coverage. "
Reply #6: Jan 15, 2011, 2:59pm Can you tell me how the preloaded charts compare to the XG2 package as far as detail goes I am most interested in the west coast
Reply #7: Jan 17, 2011, 1:34pm Hello Ross,
Not sure what you are referring to. XG2?
Do you mean this card
If so it is the same data.
Reply #8: Mar 17, 2011, 8:16am Hi, does this unit also work in auto? Is it loaded with map of Lake of the Woods, Ontario? Thank you!
Reply #9: Mar 18, 2011, 7:35am Hello Kurt,
I just checked a model I have handy and it has partial coverage of the Lake of the woods. USA side only. I also noticed only nav aids and no depth contours on that lake.
Reply #10: Apr 26, 2011, 10:59pm So then if I am fishing the inland lakes of the Kawarthas then I will also need the Hotmaps Platinum SD card as well?
Reply #11: Apr 27, 2011, 7:55am Hello Ron,
It doesn't look like there are charts available for your lake at this time.
The Garmin cards also don't cover your Kawartha lakes. At this time it is best to get a Garmin 421S or similar and run Garmin topo maps on it. You will get a shore outline that may be of some help.
Reply #12: Apr 27, 2011, 8:10am Hello Ron,
I just saw another post on a different forum page about the same region but they gave a little more info. The two lakes in that region they mentioned (Sturgeon and Pigeon) are covered in High definition on the Navionics Hotmaps platinum card.
Reply #13: Apr 27, 2011, 8:52am I have a Lowrance Elite 5 Gold. I believe the card I need is Msd/hmpt-c6. Can you double check that before I order it. Thanks

Reply #15: Apr 27, 2011, 12:45pm Hello Ron,
That is the correct card.
Reply #16: May 4, 2011, 2:31pm Hi, I was wondering if there is coverage for coastal newfoundland? If not is there software available for this area?
Reply #17: Jul 3, 2011, 4:12am I have the elite 5 and was wondering do I need a special adapter to make the card fit? The sd card is too wide to fit the card slot.
You will need the microSD size of card, which should be included with that SD card. The SD card is the adapter, and the microSD card is inside. At the base of the SD card there should be a ridge that you can grab and pull out the microSD card.
Reply #19: Jul 10, 2011, 9:50am I purchased a Elite 5 yesterday. The gentlman I bought if off showed me the difference of the base map that it had, and the difference a chip made for detail. I have installed it in my boat, but cannot get off the base map. How do I get on the detailed chip I purchased.
Reply #20: Jul 11, 2011, 10:26am Hello Ron,
You need to turn the map on in the settings under Charts.
Menu-> Settings-> charts -> Chart Data
Reply #21: Mar 19, 2012, 7:11am Same issue for me, i have already selected navionics under chart data. Zoomed in at coastline and im not seeing any detail
Reply #22: Mar 19, 2012, 8:55am Once the chip is inserted you should see the maps. you may need to go into the chart menu and select coastal instead of inland. That may be the issue
Reply #23: Oct 1, 2012, 4:42pm Post 12. The link is their home page. Just a map. I don't think all lakes with data o n that map are on the elite 5 nav gold card. Is there a lake list specific to gold card?
Reply #24: Oct 2, 2012, 8:31am There is no list for the Gold card that comes with unit.
