Hi. I'm thinking of buying another fishfinder. So far I've always used hummingbird which I'm satisfied with. I'm also condidering the garmin since I like there handheld gps. But I don't know anything about there fishfinder ( an advice on either one). I fish for walleye in depth between 5 feet and 30 feet no deeper. My lake gets depht of 125 feet a few places but I never fish deep. I want one with big numbers and that I can see in a sunny day. I'm thinking of a colored one.Is a gps fishfinder combo a good choice if I already have a handheld.
Thank you
Jack

Hello Jack,

I used the GPSMap 441S in my boat all summer (2010) and I found it easy to read in the sun. The depth sounding worked fine. I like the humminbird because of the side scan sonar models but the basic ones are very similar to the Garmins. If you already own charts for the humminbird you may want to get another similar model so you don't need to buy new maps. If you own no maps then going with either is fine. Because I am more familiar with Garmin I will recommend them at this time.

Cheers
Jordan
