Hi Ivan,

The one you need (if you have a 421s) is the HXCA015R. It is a full map of Canada and will provide the best detail. It is a microSD card, the other is a Garmin card.

Hi I am interested in either the 421,531, I fish the west coast of BC, canada. The sd cards that fit these models are they as accurate as the C-map chips? Which I understand are made from the paper charts. What is the better choice the 421 or the 531?thanks for your help

Hello Bob,

The chart data comes from the same source. You should be comparing the 521 with the 421 to get a closer comparison. The 531 comes preloaded with USA inland lake charts. The 521/421 are not preloaded. The difference is the screen size. The 521s has a 5 inch screen and the 421S a 4 inch. They both do the same. Just make sure you get the model with a S in the name so that you get sounder functionality. Cheaper to get it built into the unit than to add it on. The chart you will need is the Garmin Bluechart G2 HXCA015R and it will cover all the west coast of Canada.

Cheers
